The call aims to accelerate the digitalization of freight transport and logistics through electronic freight transport information (eFTI) platforms. The objective is to expand their functionalities beyond the requirements of Regulation 2020/1056: to support new use cases, solutions, and applications that facilitate harmonized B2B information exchange in multimodal logistics chains. This includes, for example, integrating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting, sustainability claims, and other actions that promote efficient and environmentally friendly logistics.
Furthermore, the call encourages the development of complementary B2A applications (such as statistics, customs, e-invoicing, reporting, and data spaces), support for SMEs to accelerate adoption of the eFTI framework, and demonstration of operational efficiency gains through improved digital connectivity and interoperability compared to the initial situation.
